UPDATE: Wisconsin Mass Gathering Ban Expressly Exempts Auto Retail and Other Dealership Operations

Following the March 17 Emergency Order Prohibiting Mass Gatherings of 10 People or More, Governor Tony Evers and Department of Health Services Secretary-designee Andrea Palm issued Emergency Order #8 Updated Mass Gathering Ban, which clarifies the scope of the mass gathering ban. The Order expressly exempts “[a]utombile service, repair, and sale facilities.” As with the previous order, retail establishments remain exempt “where large numbers of people are present but are not generally within arm’s length of one another for more than 10 minutes.”

All gatherings that bring together or are likely to bring together 10 or less people in a single room or confined space, whether inside or outside, at the same time must:

  • preserve social distancing; and

  • follow all other public health recommendations issued by DHS or the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Voluntary cancellation, closure, or limitations on the size of gatherings beyond the requirements of the Emergency Order are permitted and encouraged.
